I am Elizabeth Dunckel,
a licensed Marriage Family Therapist,
running a private practice in San Carlos, California
where I do business as Epicenter Counseling
related to the slogan "Getting to the Core of Your Concerns."
In 2009, I graduated with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, a program known for it excellence and broad teachings on a wide-range of therapeutic interventions. I work actively with my clients and my goal is for you to take away something helpful from each session, promoting joy in the process.
I worked for over three years at the Bill Wilson Center in Santa Clara doing individual and group therapy for adolescents in the Teen Crisis Center, a residential facility. At the same time I served youth needs on campus with the School Outreach Program, an extension of The Bill Wilson Center. I worked with both children and their families to promote emotional health and wellness.
I was trained and served as a Grief Counselor over several years in the Healing Hearts Program, as part of The Center For Living with Dying, a branch of The Bill Wilson Center. I worked with individual clients, and lead Grief Groups for all four age groups (ages 4-8, 9-12, 13-17 & Adults) for families recovering from the loss of a loved one.
I designed and implemented two new programs at The Bill Wilson Center, both of which I currently offer teens and pre-teens. These popular subjects center on Antibullying and Teen Girl Empowerment, both addressing personal handling of peer relationship stressors and confidence building. I gained experience and passion to help youth overcome social anxiety, a common problem, and to develop other personal understanding and growth.
I am licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, MFC#52727.
I am a member of the California Association of Marriage Family Therapists.
